How To Join and What It Will Cost

If you're interested in getting involved in RC modeling, you're in the right place. You should find answers to most of your questions on this site. Here are some steps to follow if you think you might want to join us.

Visit us at our flying field or our meetings. Get to know the club and some of our members. Ask lots of questions. We can even arrange for you to take an introductory flight lesson before you are a member.

Join the Academy of Model Aeronautics. You must be an AMA member to join the Flying Electrons.

Fill out a Flying Electrons Application and submit it with your dues and a copy of your AMA card to the club Secretary/Treasurer. Applications are available on this site, at local hobby shops and our flying field.
2007 Application
Now the fun begins! See our roster list and get in touch with our RC flight instructors. Often just by coming to the field you can speak to a experienced flyer. Attend our meetings and the new member ground schools. You will be purchasing your first “Trainer” aircraft and necessary equipment. Now is not the time to make mistakes. During the assembly/building process ask questions and get it right. The people on that list have committed to providing assistance as needed to help you get going on the right foot. Finish your plane and get ready to fly. Time to solo can vary, but should be doable in an average summer or less, sooner if you buy an ARF.
